Running a one-person business is tough. There is no boss to motivate you, no colleagues to commiserate with, and no HR Department to insist that you take time off. Working with a coach can provide the accountability and support you need to grow your solo business.
Sue is great coach and right from our first session I found her coaching to be extremely valuable. Sue helped me to better understand the process of creating content for my website by leveraging topics I already know about and breaking them down into individual posts.
With Sue’s coaching and encouragement I’ve been able to create a solid content plan that I know will benefit my readers. The best part is this reduced the amount of research I had to do and made it all much more manageable.”
Training and Philosophy
I believe that every client has unique gifts and challenges, personally and in their business. I use an eclectic coaching approach that identifies limiting beliefs and focuses on business opportunities. I believe in meeting clients where they are, helping to set reasonable goals, and providing the support and accountability they need to flourish. I do not subscribe to a one-size-fits-all coaching solution that works for everyone.
I bring a compassionate spirit, practical experience, and solid education to each coaching session. My goal is for clients to leave each session feeling empowered and excited about their business.
My education includes:
Bachelor of Commerce, Ryerson University, Toronto Canada
Ryerson University gave me a well-rounded introduction into the world of business. I studied accounting, finance, marketing, and computers.
Certified Management Accountant, Ontario Canada
Certified Management Accountant is a professional certification credential in the management accounting and financial management fields. It is somewhat equivalent to becoming a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), although the focus is more on running a business and less on financial records. (Note: I surrendered my CMA Certification, which was only valid in Canada, after moving to the United States.)
Robbins-Madanes Coach Training
This extensive training teaches Tony Robbins' method to help business owners solve problems, resolve conflicts, and grow personally and professionally.
Creativity Coaching Training with Eric Maisel
I completed both the Introduction to Creativity Coaching and Advanced Creativity Coaching training with Eric Maisel. These 16-week programs taught me how to work with creative women who are facing blocks in their business and personal lives.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction is an 8-week program that teaches intensive mindfulness to help people deal with stress, anxiety, pain and depression. This program started me on the path of meditation and mindfulness.
Seminars and Retreats
I admit that I am a self-development junkie. I have participated in many seminars, classes and retreats on a wide range of subjects. Two of my favorite learning centers are the Open Center in New York City and the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York.
When Sue says that she helps women “fall back in love with their businesses,” she isn’t exaggerating. When we started working together, I knew that I wanted to make some changes to my business, particularly in the area of branding and marketing.
With Sue’s encouragement, I have started work on a new website, updated my corporate identity, and regained a lot of enthusiasm for my work as a pattern designer and commercial artist. Sue is understanding and compassionate, while at the same time pushing me toward my goals. No matter how good (or bad) my week has been, I finish my coaching calls feeling energized and positive – and with a plan for the week ahead. This experience has sold me on the value that a good coach brings to a business.
I have been working with Sue for about a month now and have already seen a difference in my ability to focus on redirecting my business. Sue guides me in articulating my goals, creating a to-do list of tasks toward those goals, and she gently holds me accountable during our twice monthly phone calls. Sue is keenly perceptive. She has tact and the ability to point out behaviors that could be changed, resulting in a better outcome.
I am sure I would not have focused and moved forward so quickly without her guidance. I highly recommend Sue as a personal and business coach.
